How to Clean & Remove Permanent Marker From Marble

Things You'll Need

  • Paper towels
  • Hydrogen peroxide or lacquer thinner
  • Cloth
  • Water
  • Mild soap

Instructions

  1. Tear off a few paper towels and press them against the permanent marker stain in case it just happens to get up at least some of the ink.

  2. Put a small amount of hydrogen peroxide on a clean cloth if your marble is made of light colored stone. Put a small amount of lacquer thinner on a clean cloth if your marble is made of dark colored stone.

  3. Press the permanent marker stain repeatedly with the cloth. This should transfer the permanent marker from the marble to the cloth.

  4. Add more hydrogen peroxide or lacquer thinner and use a different side of the cloth as the permanent marker continues to transfer.

  5. Rinse the marble with water once you remove the permanent. Dry immediately.

  6. Clean the marble with hot water and several drops of mild soap if there is other residue to clean. Rinse and dry immediately.
